Fierce Eyrie Battles

Everything appeared to be alright on Monday. The third egg had been laid and Cico and his partner incubated already. At about 5:40 p.m. a stork a ttacked the eyrie. Fierce battles ensued. Is it "Luna"? Does she want her old eyrie back and chase away the alien, younger female stork? The battle continued for several minutes and the attacks were severe. During the night more attacks followed. However, the alien stork was driven away, and the clutch was unharmed. Such attacks on already occupied eyries by late returning storks are not at all unusual, f or loyalty to the eyrie plays an important role, and the strongest ones prevail in the end.
