Let the Stork Season begin!

The arrival of storks, along with Cico and Luna, is eagerly awaited.

The preparations for their arrival are in high gear. As long as everything proceeds without problems, will it be possible to follow the happenings at the eyrie again on the Internet and the White Stork Information Centre. The installation of the camera are planned March 11th. To undertake this a total replacement of cables for the Internet broadcast took place. Some 1,300 ft of different types were used. The installation within the centre were brought up to the current state of of technology. A part of the costs were covered by sponsorships. enviaM will again provide the required technical support for the Internet broadcasts.

At the same time the stork eyrie will be renewed. A guarantee that a repeated appearance of the aspergillosis (mould fungus infection in storks)can be prevented cannot be given, so the comments of Dr. Olias of the Free University of Berlin.

The winter months were well used to make a few changes in the exhibits of the centre. By way of new divisions to the space a completely new exhibition area was realised. Here we present a wide range of preparations which the NABU Regional Associatio Calau has collected over the last years. They describe the diversity of birds, butterflies and mammals in their habitat as well as newcomers which have settled here.

Until the end of March, the White Stork Information Centre and the Tourism Centre of the Town of Vetschau are open from Monday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. From the season opening on April 1, 2010 the exhibition will be open from Tuesday to Saturday as well as on holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
