"The Day of the open Door was an eventful one"

Many interested people came to Vetschau to participate in the "Day of the open Door" at the White Stork Information Centre. All kinds of information about the NABU RV Calau (Nature Protection Federation, Regional Association Calau) and its work could be cleaned. Among other things the various groups introduced themselves, for instance, the AG (Work Group) Town and Environsgreening and the AG Stork Children and Junior Rangers. Much interest turned to the amount of herbs about which an expert of NABU gave details of the local ones and their possible use. It was possible to make ones own herbal oil or herbal vinegar. The implementations around the protection of wasps and hornets resonated well with the guests. Nest helps for our feathered friends were built by the visitors and will find a place in a local garden. In addition, of course, the life and protection of white storks stood at the centre of the Day of the open Door. Admission to the exhibits was free, and the responsible County White Stork Caregiver answered all incoming questions. Everyone could have a look into the Internet eyrie and make suggestion for names for the young storks. To other local or immigrated animal species, such as raccoon, mink or raccoon dog detailed information was available. Because "Mother's Day" followed next day, many guests used the opportunity to have presents of fresh flower arrangements made. By turning the Wheel of Fortune some people went home with great prizes. With steaks and "bratwurst" from the grill as well as coffee and cake, every guest was able to close the visit to the White Stork Information Centre with pleasure.
