Naming of the young Storks of Vetschau

On June 3rd the stork chicks of the Internet eyrie in Vetschau, Spree Forest received their names. The "Witja"-Group of the kindergarten "Sun-Bugs" in Vetschau who visits us regularly supported us during the draw for the names and greeted the chicks with a Sorbian song. The first chick received the name "Klappi" from the children.

The other three names were drawn from the suggestions given by visitors to the "Day of the open Door". The second chick was given the name "Twiggy" suggested by Shannon Albrecht of Wolfsburg. The third chick's name is "Friedrich". This name was suggested by Justine Wallenta of Halle. Our fourth chick received the name "Paula" which was suggested by Paula Mueller of Hoppegarten. As a "thank-you" the winners will receive our DVD of the life of Cico and Luna.

The children said goodbye with another song and wished the chicks all the best for their further thriving.

The development of the chicks depends mainly on the availability of nourishment in the surrounding region. Already, both parent storks fly away in the search to bring to the young storks sufficient fodder.
