Envi hatched on Saturday

On Saturday morning the first stork chick hatched. Stork protectors and friends from around the world are very happy and have sent hundreds of congratulations to the Nature Protection Federation at Vetschau. The chick received the name "Envi", after the sponsor of the website. The idea to honour the company with the chick came, amongst others, from Volker Kahdemann. Envi's birth is a little premature. After only thirty days of incubation the chick came into the world. As a rule the incubation period of white storks is thirty-two days. The continuous rain is creating worries. Wetness and cold can lead to losses. However, our "Internet- Stork-Couple" cares for their offsprings dilligently. For the visitors at the White Stork Information Centre the thrilling period of raising the young ones now begins. Guests to the exhibition hall follow the activities in the eyrie "live". Different displays give insight with respect to the life and protective measures of white storks.
