When will the Youg Ones hatch?
That is the question which keeps us on the edges of our seats. Let's make some calculations: The three eggs of the first brood were laid between April 11th and 15th when incubation also began. The incubation period lies at thirty-two days. Should out of the one remaining egg, whether it is the 1st, 2nd or 3rd we don't know, a young one hatch, it should occur between May 13th and 17th. In other words, at any hour now. If, however, due to the incubation interruption, this embryo died, the young ones of the second brood would be the first to hatch. Number one egg was laid on April 25th with incubation beginning at once. Consequently, the date of hatching would be May 27th. Further chicks would hatch at two-day intervals.
