The "Storchennest" Book makes its Debut
On March 30th the long-awaited stork book of Guenter Blutke and Arnulf Weingardt made its debut under the Stork Nest of Vetschau. The authors introduced the result of their ten-year long team-work to journalists and the public. At the NABU White Stork Centre people were of one opinion: The book is more than a book lovers treasure with excellent and emotional photographs. The texts offer interestingly presented news even to some stork experts.
In the meantime, the 500 previously ordered books have been shipped to their subscribers. An e-mail message, which reached the creators, says for instance, "with enthusiasm, I have ordered a second copy for a Dutch family which watches the storks at Vetschau with great pleasure. I find the book with its wonderful photographs (presumably all still taken in the conventional, analog manner) to be grand and your collection of private photos remarkable! I shall advertize it in my circle of friends. F. Erhardt".
In the welcome address for the book, the support of the storchennest.de management was mentioned. Also the enthusiastic fan club which fired up the 500-copy pre-publication orders in the Forum. Anna M. Storch of Ohio, for example, has ordered seven books, one for herself and one each for her six sons. A comment at Vetschau: The stork is called, white, which is only proper.
The total sum: The book about the Spree Forest storks and storchennest.de has come to life after unspeakable labour-pains. It was worth it.
