Two happy Bulletins
The Stork Centre remains open!
Today a most sincere "thank-you" goes to the many stork friends as well as the journalists who so promptly reacted to the threatened closure of the Lower Lusatian White Stork Information Centre at Vetschau/Spree Forest. The "Cry to the Ramparts" has wrought miracles: Suddenly everyone moves; the Agency for Labour, the Brandenburg Ministry having jurisdiction for financing ABM-positions and the Mayor want to know where the problems are. Many things are now possible, which were rejected as unfeasible before. Presently we are weighing solutions which will ensure that the Stork Centre will remain open for visitors.
The second Chick hatched
On Wednesday, May 26th, early in the morning the second chick reported in with loud cheeps and freed itself from the eggshell. We are particularly glad in light of the improved weather conditions without dangers to the freshly hatched young ones. We "christened" the chick "Hadschi", patterned after "Hadschi-LakLak", the name given to the white stork in Arabic countries.
