Stork Book Author in Zywkowo: 35 Residents, 50 occupied Eyries

Berlin, Middle of July 2004. Until a few days ago, I have photographed many storks in Zywkowo (formerly Schewecken), Poland's #1 stork village, situated barely 100 yards away from the Russian border. Nine farm yards, 35 residents, and 50 occupied eyries the year. Within five days I have seen everything of which storks are capable, including the insolent thievery of nesting materials from neighbouring nests and mating of non-breeders which presumably promise each other, "same place, same station, next year on April 1st". I can recommend a trip to Zywkowo to every stork fan. There are a few photo tidbits under http://www.blutke-naturfotos.de/.

On this occasion the question of the book buyer Ilona Rathin of Cologne comes to mind, Dear Mr. Blutke, before aquiring the book about the beautiful Spree Forest storks I already had your book of photographs "Stork Country. Paradise on Call" ("Storchenland. Paradies auf Abruf"). Do you plan a new stork book?

The answer is a clear "no", I still have to look after the "old" one. The book about the Spree Forest storks and http://www.storchennest.de/ is only available since the end of March 2004. Again and again I read friendly words regarding the book of photographs, sometimes an abridged sentence on a money order or as from Jost M. in Munich in an e-mail, who expresses his thanks for "the delivery of the very beautiful book" which he "likes excellently".

Incidently the book has its problems as all such special products, which are not distributed to bookstores by large companies. From them, for example, the bookstore may perhaps receive an invoice covering 100 titles. That is a significant smaller effort for him than handling an order for one Blutke/Weingartd book and an invoice from the Publisher Blutke. Many bookstores shy away from the extra work and do not even place the order. The alternative is an order via the Internet.
