The lost Band
Our three young storks received their bands with the numbers H 2820 to H 2822 on June 29th, 2004. Apparently 'Bospo' wanted to return to anonimity and liberated himself from the band, the second half of which obviously did not seat itself properly. As a rule the bands cannot be loosened. It was a costly process to read the remaining rings, but with the patience of Job and telescope set up on the first floor of our house were we able to read #H 2821 and #H 2822. So the lost ring is #H 2820. Re-banding of a stork of six weeks of age was out of the question. It would not have been possible without endangering the animals and a repition would have been very costly.
