The Stork Year approaches the End
Dear Stork Friends;
2004 approaches its end. It is time for a review, also at the Stork Information Centre. Vetschau and www.Storchennest.de. At the same time we want to look into the coming year.
- The Nature Protection Federation, Regional Group Calau (NABU) and envia tel wish all Stork Friends a contemplative Advent, a merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. We thank you very much for your many pieces of advice and suggestions. Special thanks and greetings also to our volunteer English translator Joachim Nuthack in Edmonton/Canada.
- With the successful raising of three young stork, the year 2004 lured 5,500 visitors to the Stork Centre and 2.2 million to the Internet site www.Storchennest.de (200,000 more than in the record year 2002). We at NABU want to express our sincere gratitude for your generous donations in the amount of 4,600 €. They were channeled into measures of protection and the Stork Centre.
- An ABM-position will not be granted in 2004. Because the volunteer capacity also dwindles, Nabu is forced to finance a worker itself. One or two position could hopefully be filled with the 1-Euro-Job scheme or through the FÖJ programme. With this the finacial expenditures are rising and the Strok Centre will have to rely heavier on donations. It would be helpful, if you could already at this time reserve or transmit a donation for Vetschau.
- The possibility via credit cards ahd to be discontinued, because criminal elements created losses. We are now opening a variation in the hope, that only honest and legal donations will arrive. As NABU is charged 40 € for each reversal the minimum donation via credit card has been raised to 20 € to lower the finacial risk. We apologize for the inconvenience this change may cause.
- NABU and enviaM are currently planning the cooperation for 2005. The agree is to be signed in January.
- We ask you to present ideas and suggestions to improve what we offer at the Stork Centre in Vetschau. We are investigating the construction of a photo-view tower, the keeping of foster storks and a beverage counter ourselves.
- Last, the most important: A stork couple may move into the Internet stork eyrie at Vetschau in 2005 and again allow us to participate in their exiting family life.
