A Black Day at the Internet Storks

With dismay the stork fans followed the events at the Internet storks. On Monday two stork chicks lay motionless in the eyrie and during the day it became clearer and clearer that they had died. The remaining third chick continued to peep and fed. Over night to Tuesday it also died. Many stork fans from around the world have shown great sorrow, for the "Internet Storks" have entered their hearts. "This is a raven black and I have to wrestle with myself to keep my composure." so Winfried Boehmer, the NABU Project Leader.

As a cause of death of the chicks the feed of poisoned food animals is suspected. A toxicological examination will shed light on the matter. The weather was all in all not bad, to question this as the cause. Rain was only of short duration. Cool yet dry weather reigned mostly. Only when steady rain of two to three days makes them immobile and cools them off losses occur.

The fourth egg, which was laid on May 6th, still lies in the eyrie. The regular brooding span of 32 days was reached today. The hope of one chick still hatching is yet alive.
