Another Clutch at the Internet Storks?

After the fourth infertile egg of "our" storks Luna and Cico had been thrown out of the nest, many storks friends are move to the thought: Will the pair lay eggs once more? The question is nourished by the tender behaviour between Cico and Luna including frequent matings. In addition they carry in nest materials again and again and build on the eyrie. "Even though they storks mate, a clutch will is not possible. The latest known additional clutch happened on a 20th of May." so the NABU-Project Leader Winfried Boehmer.

Mother Nature has programmed storks in such a way that they will become infertile when the year has past a certain point. The young storks would not develop into fledglings by the end of August/ beginning of September and would be unable to start the trek to their winter quarters. The statistics will show Cico and Luna as a pair without young ones.

The stork couple will certainly remain at the eyrie until August and allow the visitors to the Stork Centre many exiting insights into their lives. At the Stork Information Centre a film presentation of the previous year's Internet storks will be shown the visitors. The shootings reach from the arrival at the eyrie to the departure in autumn.

The White Stork Centre will be open as always from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with the exception of Mondays.
