How many young Stork are fledglings?
Bicycle Tour to Stork Nests
The NABU-Regional Association invites you to participate in the last bicycle tour of this year to stork nest on Saturday August the 13th. The meeting place will be the Stork Centre in Vetschau at 10:00am. The trip of 15 km (not quite 10 miles) will take about 2½ hours and passes all stork eyries situated around the Stradow Ponds. The round trip starts in Vetschau through Stradow, Naundorf and Suschow. The young storks are now fledglings and can be observed as the practice Flying. This third stork tour will show, how many young storks grew up, and whether it will be confirmed that in our region as in all of Eastern Europe very few young storks were raised.
Heinz-Juergen Boemack of NABU, Regional Association Calau takes over the expert leadership and will answer all pertinent questions.
There will be, of course, opportunities to observe other kinds of birds, with a little luck the "singing" swans and fish eagles will be among them.
Winfried Boehmer NABU-Project Leader
