Meto perishes

Meto died in the early morning hours of June 10th without visible causes. He will probably devoured by one of the parent storks. With Meto's death, the question why Lenka passed away has to be revisited. Are we faced with the same mould as last year, which triggered pneumonia? Eight inches of nest material was removed last autumn and the remainder sprayed thrice with fungicide. The adoption of Hugo had nothing to do with the death of Meto. He too was fed and otherwise cared for by the parent storks. That at first he was not nestled, did not matter while the weather was warm, precipitation free and calm. Hypothermia on Pentecost Saturday, before the rescue mission, was much more serious. Meto was bodily underdeveloped.
