Examination and Banding of Hugo

On Monday at about 10:00 a.m. Ms. Katharina Illig will band Hugo. In addition a post graduate student of the Institute for Fowl Diseases at the FU (Freie Universitaet) of Berlin will take a blood sample and sawbs. This is a part of the complex investigation for causes of the chick deaths at the Vetschau and other stork eyries.

To possibly find the source of the mould fungus and to detect in the nest material samples will be removed from the eyrie and from places from which the storks collect nest materials.

In a spontaneous action, storks friends banded together to help the NABU Calau to search for the ones frequented by the parent storks. A heartfelt thank-you for the work!
