Young storks without parent supervision for the first time
At the age of more than 20 days, the time has come when the young storks can be left alone now and again. They have grown enough and no longer require the parent storks' constant protection and care. Furthermore, the fodder needs of the constantly hungry young beaks grow steadily. It has now increased to a daily requirement of about nine pounds per young one. One parent stork alone cannot manage it, a reason now for both parents to fly off to nearby meadows and fields.
