Arrival at the nest:
29. Mar '06 First stork (male) arrived at the nest

00:50 a.m. - A female stork arrived at the nest. Female is driven away with blows of his beak even after help with building on the nest and copulations.

04. Apr '06 Cico copulates successively with several females which he then chases away (15 Apr.)
16. Apr '06 5:00 p.m. Partner search is successful with the "right" female. The couple stays together
Eggs in the nest:
25. Apr '06 1st egg in the nest
27. Apr '06 2nd egg in the nest
29. Apr '06 3rd egg in the nest
01./02. May '06 4th egg in the nest
Hatching of the young:
27. May '06 1st stork chick hatched - named Lenka. (Sorbian name for Lea)
01. June '06 2nd stork chick hatched - named Meto. (Sorbian name for Lea)
Incidents:
03 June '06 Meto is saved by the fire brigade. He was thrown to the edge of the nest while feeding on a snake and no longer attended to by the parent storks. Very undercooled, he was returned to the nest hollow.
09 June '06 A waive chick was placed for adoption into the nest. The parent storks accept the new chick, named Hugo.
Loss of the young ones:
03 June '06 The oldest chick - Lenka - died (later diagnosis: Aspergillosis)
10 June '06 Meto died without any obvious reason in the early morning hours and is eaten by one of the parent storks. (Chronism)

Banding of the Young Storks:

Regulation of Temperature:
- With high July temperatures, above 85/F/30/C, the storks chalk their legs with their own droppings. This is a natural behaviour of white storks which prevents overheating of the legs.

Leaving of the Eyrie:
11 Aug. '06 At about 11:05 a.m. the stork couple sits together at the eyrie for the last time. Apparently Luna then started the flight to Africa. After this only Cico remained at the eyrie. As usual, the parent storks separate after the brood season and go their individual ways.
19 Aug. '06 Cico spent the night for the last time at the eyrie and embarked on the flight to Africa in the early morning hours.
