Since the beginning of July the parent storks first and later the young ones are chalking their legs with their own excrement. It is a typical behaviour of white storks at temperatures of about 30° C and intensive sunlight. This temperature regulation prevents overheating of the legs. |

The last young stork starts at 10:45 a.m., circles the eyrie, elevates himself highre and higher, and disappears from view. Now the parent stork stays over night. |
