Im Moment stehen die Cams still, da sie Solar betrieben sind und bei dem Wetter keine Energie produziert wird.Libby hat geschrieben:We've been contacted by several folks about the Cobb owls and the weather.
The situation with the adults is unclear. I zoomed out the camera to see if I could see an adult perched near the nest. Of course, now the camera is momentarily stuck until it gets more solar charge (I'll zoom back in as soon as I can). Looking at ground around the nest tower, you can see the entire island is underwater. The tower is safely 30' in the air and not threatened by floods. The adults are likely in the nearby fishing shack riding out the storm.
For those folks wondering why we can't go out and save these chicks, the nest is on a barrier island requiring a 20 minute boat ride. There are 10-15' waves, 7' tides, and widespread flooding. These conditions are extremely unsafe for anyone to be on the water. Plus all the bridges we would need to take to access the boat ramp are closed because of high winds 30-50 mph.
