Bore da - DAY 21

The eldest chick is three weeks old today and both of them are doing great. They get all their liquid from the food they eat so as long as there is plenty of fish brought back there is no danger of dehydration which can quickly become fatal in these high temperatures.

Both chicks doing well despite the light rain shower at 11am, the first for July. (yes, it does rain in Wales occasionally!)

Bore da - DAY 27

The chicks are about half way to fledging now, in another four weeks they'll take to the skies for the first time.

It has finally been raining here on the Dyfi after a parched July until yesterday. What a contrast to last year. During his first four weeks of life, Ceulan failed to see one day where it didn't rain!

In just a year, these birds have shown how incredibly resilient they are, surviving both extremes of a British summer.
