Glad you liked the robin's nest video....Mom robin looked surprised when she brought a worm to her empty nest.

I see the wing flapping exercises have begun....a few more weeks and there will be "lift-off". Thanks for all the photos and videos.

We will be celebrating our Fourth of July "Independence Day" on Monday with day-long festivities and a big fireworks show at night.

News from the stork center:

The Vetschau Internet Storks have Names now

On Wednesday, June 29 the young storks of the Internet eyrie of the White Stork Information Centre of Lower Lusatia were given names. The children of the "Sommerkäfer/Summerbugs" daycare centre in Vetschau drew the names from previously received suggestions. The young stork with band number HE 826 received the name "Knuffi" while ring number HE 827 is now called "Antonia".

The children entertained us and our Internet fans with German and Sorbian songs, a poem and as a surprise presented us with a crafted picture of storks, frogs and the sun.

We thank all participants, the children and their caregivers of the "Sommerkäfer/Summerbugs" day care centre, for the suggestions of names and their giving of them.

NABU regional Association Calau would like to express a heartfelt "thank you" to all Stork Fans for their loyalty and support for the preservation of the Stork Centre.
