Hier das offizielle Statement:
"Most of you will know that after a couple of failed attempts Pete Le Roux finally managed to capture Gracie on Thursday and since then her injury as well as her behaviour have been examined and observed carefully. It seems her wound has healed and she's not in pain, but that the damage can not be repaired. She is also taking very badly too being kept in captivity and keeps beating herself up against the wires.
Having considered all this carefully, and feeling it would be unfair to Gracie to either keep her captive like this or to put her down, Pete decided it would be best to release her back to the Pond to give her a chance and let nature take its course.
Some will be happy with this decision, others will undoubtedly be very upset. As we have all grown attached to Gracie and her plight, and most of us have strong opinions on whether or not humans should intervene in these situations it is bound to spur heated debate for and against.
There are lots of arguments that can be brought forward to argue either side in general or for this specific case. I've started a new topic in the discussion section and would ask to contribute there to avoid the start of many separate threads on the main page that will quickly become invisible as new postings are being made on the Wall.
Whatever your views are, please be sure to share them in amanner that is appropriate and respectful to others expressing viewpoints that might be different from your own."
