The name of the first chick is Zora, given by the children
Just in time on Saturday, May 12, the day of the open door of the RV NABU Calau eV in the center Vetschau hatched the first stork chic of our Internet storks Cico and Luna.
Whenever the stork mom or dad stood up, a hike of our visitors was wandering to the screen, just to miss nothing.
This year, the name of the first chick will be awarded to the child who reports to us first finish the hatched chicks. This chick is called Zora suggested by Karla and Theo from Ströbitz. Since another egg is pecked, the next hatch is expected for Mother's day.
The storks are very caring for their young. The remaining eggs are incubated further with one of the adult storks always remains at the nest while the other goes in search of food. Small animals such as earthworms, beetles and snails need the chicks during the first days of life. The food is not stuffed to beaks of the chicks like the song birds do, the adult birds choke the food from the throat to the nest floor. From there the youngs take it on their own.
Now begins the exciting and interesting phase of the breeding season. This experience can be watched live on screen in the White Stork Information Centre in Vetschau / Spreewald daily except Monday 10-17 clock, Drebkauer 2a Str.

Pünktlich am Samstag den 12.Mai zum Tag der offenen Tür des NABU RV Calau e.V im Storchenzentrums Vetschau schlüpft das erste Küken unserer Internetstörche Cico und Luna.
Immer wenn die Storchenmama oder der Storchenpapa aufstand, erfolgte eine Wanderung unserer Besucher zum Bildschirm in der Ausstellung, um nichts zu verpassen.
Dieses Jahr wurde der Name des ersten Kükens an das Kind vergeben wird, welches uns zuerst das fertig geschlüpfte Küken meldet. Das Küken heißt Zora vorgeschlagen von Karla und Theo aus Ströbitz. Da ein weiteres Ei angepickt ist, ist zum Muttertag mit weiterem Nachwuchs zu rechnen.
Das Storchenpaar kümmert sich sehr fürsorglich um den Nachwuchs. Die restlichen Eier werden weiter bebrütet, wobei einer der Altstörche ständig am Horst bleibt, während sich der andere auf Futtersuche begibt. Kleine Tiere wie Regenwürmer, Käfer und Schnecken brauchen die Küken in den ersten Lebenstagen. Das Futter wird den Küken nicht etwa wie bei den Singvögeln in den Schnabel gestopft, sondern die Altvögel würgen das Futter aus dem Schlund auf den Nestboden. Von dort nehmen es die Jungen selbständig auf.
Jetzt beginnt die spannende und interessante Phase der Jungenaufzucht. Dieses Erlebnis kann live am Bildschirm im Weißstorch-Informationszentrum in Vetschau/Spreewald täglich außer Montag von 10 bis 17 Uhr, Drebkauer Str. 2a .
